Charles was called to the bar in 2007. Charles practices in a broad range of areas including media, banking, construction, corporations, employment, insolvency, insurance, fraud, property, trusts, wills and estates.
Committed to working in partnership with his instructing lawyers to develop the best strategies to achieve their legal and commercial imperatives, Charles advises and/or appears for a range of institutions including banks, law, accounting and consulting firms, medical practices and insurance, building and construction companies, in interlocutory applications and hearings, at first instance and on appeal in all jurisdictions around Australia.
Charles’ areas of interest include restraint of trade and misuse of confidential information litigation and shareholder/ partnership disputes.
Before he was called to the bar, Charles practised as a senior lawyer at Ernst & Young, where his practise focused on corporate collapses (director duties, shareholder class action claims), employment, tax fraud and auditor negligence. He also gained significant experience as a solicitor at MinterEllison, Henry Davis York and Abbott Tout.
