David is a specialist in commercial law, with a particular focus on tax law.

Prior to coming to the bar, David was an experienced solicitor having worked for 7 years at Mallesons (formerly King & Wood Mallesons), including as Senior Associate in both the dispute resolution and tax teams. He has also previously worked at EY.

As a solicitor, he provided advice on a wide range of complex tax disputes and transactions, including advising on Part IVA tax avoidance, transfer pricing, capital gains tax, corporate tax issues, taxation of trusts, taxation of intellectual property and other intangibles, international and cross-border tax issues, GST, the consolidation regime, tax treaties, stamp duty and land tax.

He also has experience in class action and insolvency disputes.

David is a graduate of the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) (First Class Honours), and a Juris Doctor (for which he was awarded various university prizes, including the Dean’s List of Excellence in Academic Performance and the Wigram Allen Scholarship, among others).

He also completed the Master of Laws at the University of Sydney and was awarded the 2026 George and Matilda Harris Scholarship Prize for topping the Master of Laws.

Earlier in his career, David was a journalist and content marketer for around a decade. During this time he launched successful businesses including a content marketing consultancy and a magazine in the NSW Hunter Valley.
