Justin comes to the bar after more than 20 years experience as a solicitor specialising in taxation and revenue law. He also practices in trusts, administrative law and commercial law. He has chambers in both Sydney and Brisbane.
Justin has acted for high net wealth individuals, small and large corporations and government departments. He has considerable front end tax advice experience in all areas of Federal and State taxation laws, as well as experience in tax controversy matters. He has been involved with tax related cases in the AAT, Federal Court, High Court of Australia and Supreme Court of Queensland.
For many years Justin has actively contributed to Australian tax policy. He is a Chartered Tax Adviser with the Taxation Institute of Australia and is a regular presenter at its events. He is also the current chair of the Law Council of Australia’s Business Law Section (taxation) committee in Queensland, where he regularly makes submissions to Treasury and the ATO on tax related issues.
Justin has a Masters of Taxation law and before coming to the bar he was a partner of a Queensland law firm, heading up its taxation and revenue division. He has also worked at Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst) (Sydney – tax) and Minter Ellison (Brisbane – tax). Justin also has accounting qualifications through a Bachelor of Commerce and has worked at Grant Thornton and Crowe Horwarth as a tax consultant and director.
