Prior to coming to the bar, Michael was an experienced litigation solicitor having worked for 12 years at Herbert Smith Freehills, including in the firm’s Sydney, London and Hong Kong offices, in each of which he was admitted to practice as a solicitor.
In that role, Michael gained particular experience in tax disputes, large cross border disputes, banking and finance litigation, shareholder disputes, commercial arbitration, trust disputes, injunctions and freezing orders, remedies and enforcement of judgments, mediation, regulatory investigations, and insolvency.
Prior to that, Michael was a Judge’s Associate for the Hon Justice AR Emmett in the Federal Court of Australia, a teaching assistant in corporate and securities law at the University of Sydney, and a paralegal in the tax practice at Blake Dawson (now Ashurst).
Michael is a graduate of the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class) and a Bachelor of Economics.
He is currently undertaking a Master of Laws (Taxation) at the University of Sydney.
