Scott practises in commercial law, taxation and revenue and public law.
He regularly appears in State and Federal courts and tribunals, both as sole counsel and as junior counsel to Senior or Queen’s counsel.
In commercial law proceedings, Scott is briefed in a range of corporations matters and in defamation law proceedings for plaintiffs and defendants, in the Federal Court of Australia and the State courts. He has also appeared at trial in class action proceedings.
Scott is regularly briefed to appear for taxpayers, the Commissioner of Taxation and the Chief Commissioner of State Revenue (NSW) in taxation and revenue matters. Scott’s practice in this field includes income tax, capital gains tax, payroll tax, duties, land tax and levies.
In public law, Scott appears for and against local governments, State agencies and the Commonwealth. He maintains a substantial intermediate and appellate practice in this area of law. Additionally, Scott receives briefs to advise and make submissions to independent commissions.
Prior to his call to the Bar, Scott practised as a solicitor.
In 2012, Scott was associate to the Honourable Justice Logan RFD, Federal Court of Australia.
